Video Production for a

Serious Game Launch

Overview: Alongside the development of the serious game Astromail, I designed and produced two launch videos, which showcase both my creative direction and my technical skill in audiovisual production.

Astromail and its launch videos were completed as the capstone project for my Instructional Design master’s program (DILIPEM).

Audience: The videos were screened in-person for a diverse audience including our client, a jury of professors, and a room full of spectators with no background knowledge of the Astromail project.

Objectives: The purpose of the videos was to…

  • Embellish the in-person Astromail launch presentation, making it exciting, compelling and entertaining.

  • Establish the narrative universe of Astromail, strengthen immersion, give the audience a taste of the game’s tone, and “sell” the game to the client and jury.

  • Give an account of our team’s experience developing the Astromail game throughout the preceding months.

My role - Director: I conceived of the video premises and then led brainstorming, scriptwriting and production planning. I then directed filming, including managing audiovisual equipment, scene setting, acting, and directing acting. Finally, I handled the entire post-production workflow using DaVinci Resolve.

Tool Used - DaVinci Resolve: Post production included green-screen compositing, audio mixing, layering node-based effects, recoloring, and exporting.
